Firefox Browser will store all your settings and data, such as Bookmarks, saved passwords, toolbar settings and extensions in a separate folder outside your browser called the Profile folder. Find your Firefox Profile folder
Firstly, you have to find your Firefox profile folder in order to back it up. To do so, see the article on How and Where to find my Firefox profile.
After reading the above article, you should now see the Profile folder window displayed on your screens.
To Backup your Profile folder, do the following
Once you have the window that contains your Profile folder displayed on your screens, carry on with the following steps to create a backup.
1) Make sure that you have closed your Firefox browser completely.
2) Go back one level above your Firefox profile. i.e., you have to go to %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
3) Now, after going back one level above, you should see your Firefox profile folder displayed there. Right click on the profile folder (xxxxxxxx.default) and click on Copy.
4) Now, navigate to the location where you would like to copy the profile folder as a backup copy and then paste the Profile folder over there.
To Restore the Profile backup, do the following
1) Make sure that you have completely closed your Firefox browser.
2) If the profile backup folder and the existing Profile folder names are same, then just replace the existing profile folder with the backup profile folder.
3) Start Firefox.
To move a profile folder to a new location, do the following
In case, if your profile folders names do not match or if you like to restore your profile folder that you had backed up to a new location, then carry on with the following steps.
1) Make sure that you have completely closed your Firefox browser.
2) Create a new profile using the Firefox Profile manager. If you do not know how to create a new Firefox profile, then read the article on How to create and delete Firefox profiles.
3) Navigate to the location where you have saved your backup profile folder and open the folder.
4) Once you have opened the folder, press CTRL+A to copy all the data and files present inside it.
5) Now, navigate to the new profile folder that you have created, open that profile folder and paste all the data and files you copied in the previous step.
6) Start Firefox.
