There are plenty of Defragmentation tools presently available in the current software market to carry out defragmentation of the hard drives. But it is very difficult to beat the performance, simplicity, ease of use and the extras offered by the Smart Defrag defragmentation tool.
Download Smart Defrag from the link below
Once you have downloaded the utility from the above link, double click on the setup.exe file to start installing the software on your PC. Follow the on-screen instructions of the installation wizard to complete the installation successfully. After the installation is finished, you should see the user interface window of the Smart Defrag utility displayed on your screens.
The user interface window lets you analyze a particular hard drive with the help of the analyze button to check for the extent of defragmentation required prior to committing to a scan.
While analyzing, the user interface displays different colored rectangular blocks representing frequently used files, fragmented files, rarely used files and more. There are also keys to help out users to know what each colored block represents what type of files on their hard drives. See the snapshot below for details.
Once the analysis is finished, you will be recommended with actions or an action that you should perform to defragment the hard drive. The number of fragmented files present in the hard drive will also be displayed. In our case, we were recommended the Defrag and Fast optimize option. See the snapshot below for details.
NOTE: -Depending upon the number of fragmented files and the size of your hard drive, the recommendations may vary. If there are a large number of fragmented files, then you may be recommended to carry out a “Deep Optimization”.
Now, click on the recommended action to defragment the hard drive. The defragmentation process may take a varying time to finish depending upon the size of the hard drive and the number of fragmented files in it.
After the process of defragmentation, the interface presents you with the results. It displays the fragmentation rate before and after carrying out defragmentation, displays the number of files defragmented and the time taken. See the snapshot below for details.
So, in addition to offering solid defragmentation tools, the Smart Defrag also offers options to carry out automatic defragmentation of hard drives at a scheduled time, to run a scan on Boot up and to automatically shut down the system after the process of defragmentation. You can configure all these settings in the Settings window of the utility. To access the Settings window, click on the Settings button present at the top right corner of the user interface window.
NOTE: – The Smart Defrag utility is not essential for those users running windows 7, because the Operating system defrags on its own, but if you use external hard drives connected to the system, this utility still comes in handy.
Overall, the Smart Defrag utility is the best pick of the lot if you want to quickly defragment your hard drives to have your system run smoother than ever. For the Options and the extras it offers and for the low usage of memory, it becomes a must have defragment utility. Both amateur and advanced users find the utility easy to use without any hassles.
