Make Google Chrome display a warning dialogue before closing multiple tabs

Google Chrome is one of the best browsers present out there that has been incorporated with so many useful and exciting features. But however, it has got a minor, yet a critical bug associated with it.

When you have 10-15 tabs opened in your Google chrome browser and by chance if you clicked on the Close button while all these tabs are still active, the browser does not issue any warning for users to confirm whether they want to close all the opened tabs or only the current tab.

But when it comes to Firefox and Internet explorer browsers, both of them display warnings when user tries to close multiple tabs.

This is really an area of concern because, just imagine a user transacting an online product and if he unintentionally clicks on the Close button, he will lose all his data, time and in the worst case even money.

Here is a solution in the form of the Chrome Toolbox extension from Google. This Toolbox provides an option called “Confirm before closing multiple tabs” which when enabled will display a warning dialogue box whenever a user tries to close multiple tabs.

Download the Chrome Toolbox from the following link

Chrome Toolbox (By Google)

Clicking on the above link will redirect you to the official page of the Chrome Toolbox extension wherein you have to click on the Install button to start downloading and installing the extension into your Google Chrome web browser.

in the new dialogue box thus opened, confirm the installation by clicking on the Install button.

Once the installation is completed, you will see a notification message saying that Chrome Toolbox is now successfully installed.

You should also notice the Chrome Toolbox icon displayed to the right side of the address bar.

Now, click on the Chrome Toolbox icon and then click on Options from the drop down menu.

In the Chrome Toolbox Options window thus opened, under the Tab category, make sure that the checkbox that says confirm before closing multiple tabs is selected. If it is selected, then you are done with accomplishing the said task. If not, just select the checkbox and exit from the Chrome Toolbox Options window.

Now, try closing your chrome browser when you have multiple tabs opened. You should see the following warning dialogue box displayed on your screens.

click on OK to close all the tabs and click Cancel if you don’t want the tabs to be closed.
